50 Foot Challenge

Once or twice a year, a project comes along that pushes our comfort zone. Enter a long time collaborator, the unnamed global tech brand, and the mega-sized high energy big screen opener ask.

I can candidly say that our team doesn’t usually take on projects involving this scale of flash and pizazz. But in a weak moment, we said yes.

The assignment involved an abstract creative concept, a 50-foot screen, 3500 attendees, and a gauntlet of cooks in the kitchen. The 3D animations alone would measure about 8000 pixels wide.

Like the Navy Seals tasked with a high profile (but potentially risky) mission, we assembled a crack team of animators, took a deep breath, and waded in.

If mere survival was the measure of success, we aced it. The approvers (all 8 of them) were happy and everyone on our team lived to see another day. Will we take on a similar project? Life’s short, probably not.
