Circuito Transatlantico!

While scrolling online travel deals one frigid winter day, we spied a transatlantic repositioning cruise at a price we couldn’t pass up. The fact that the ship sailed from Montevideo, Uruguay to Barcelona, Spain presented an opportunity to bookend the trip with other adventures.

Bookend we did. We lured two other backpackers to join us and expanded our adventure to 42 days covering nearly 25,000 kilometres by plane, train, and ocean liner. We walked 366,000 steps across 18 cities in 8 countries (not including repeat trips to the cruise ship buffet).

The take aways?

Well, 2 to 3 days in each city is perfect. Lack of over-planning led to amazing serendipitous experiences. We made excellent footwear choices. And cruises are overrated – unless you’re writing a comedy about 4 backpackers on a party boat in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.

Once we complete our obligatory client work, we’ll return for adventures beyond the city limits. We’re looking forward to stunning landscapes, getting dusty and bedraggled, and guessing at road signs in foreign languages.

Until then, watch our transatlantic wanderings by exploring this YouTube Playlist.
